Santa Fe, NM - The Santa Fe County Public Works Department (SFCPWD) has announced the opening of Rabbit Road from S. Saint Francis Dr. to the Richards Ave. roundabout, marking a significant milestone in the NE/SE Connector Road(s) Project. Starting Friday, May 31, 2024, this new route will provide direct access to the Community College District, reducing traffic through the Oshara community and improving overall traffic flow.

As part of this project, Dinosaur Trail at Churchill Road will be temporarily closed beginning Tuesday, June 4, 2024. This closure is required to connect Dinosaur Trail to the Richards Ave roundabout as part of the new roadway infrastructure. The closure is expected to last approximately six weeks with a temporary detour in place.

SFCPWD and its contractor have assured residents and motorists that all necessary traffic control measures and advance messaging will be implemented to ensure safety and minimize inconvenience. Motorists are advised to account for increased travel time, avoid speeding, and exercise caution while navigating detours. Work zones present significant hazards if breached; therefore adherence to safety precautions and traffic control is essential.

"This milestone represents a significant step forward in enhancing Santa Fe County's road infrastructure and improving connectivity for Community College residents, students, and workers," said SFCPWD officials.

Santa Fe County appreciates everyone's patience and cooperation during this critical phase of the project.
