Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th with a series of activities that highlight the history, culture, and achievements of Hispanic individuals. This month-long celebration aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Hispanic heritage while promoting inclusivity and cultural pride.

The SFPS Visual and Performing Arts Department is partnering with schools across the district to engage students, staff, and the community in various activities. One key event is the Hispanic Heritage Month Art Contest, which invites students to submit original artwork reflecting Hispanic, Latinx, or Chicanx culture, history, or identities. The contest is open until Friday, October 4th. Submissions can be made at https://sfps.education/HispanicHeritageArt2024.

One winner will be selected from each grade category: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. For questions about the contest, contact Ruth Perez at ruthperez@sfps.k12.nm.us.

"SFPS honors and celebrates the rich heritage and contributions of Hispanic people throughout the year," said an SFPS representative. "During this month-long celebration, schools across the district engage students, staff, and the community in a variety of activities that highlight the history, culture, and achievements of Hispanic individuals."

"Through these efforts," they continued, "SFPS aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Hispanic heritage while promoting inclusivity and cultural pride."
