Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) recognized National Paraprofessionals Day on April 2nd across the district. This day was dedicated to acknowledging the contributions of paraprofessionals, also known as educational assistants or teacher aides, who play a significant role in student learning and provide support to teachers in fostering a supportive school environment.

Paraprofessionals are present in all levels of education from elementary through high school. They assist with schoolwork, help students make informed choices, and offer additional support for those in need. Their work extends to collaborating with teachers on lesson plans and aiding students with disabilities, as well as ensuring that language barriers do not impede students' understanding of their educational tasks.

Schools throughout SFPS expressed their gratitude in various ways during the celebration. Some schools hosted special events and lunches, while others distributed thank-you cards and messages to honor the paraprofessionals’ hard work. Both students and teachers participated in recognizing these valuable contributors to the education system.

"Our paraprofessionals are essential to the success of our students and the smooth operation of our schools," stated Acting Superintendent Dr. Veronica C. Garcia. "Their dedication and hard work do not go unnoticed, and we are deeply appreciative of their contributions."
