Two choirs from Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) are set to participate in the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) State Choir Contest. The choirs from Santa Fe High School and Gonzales Community School have been given a chance to perform at the competition, held as a recognition of their hard work and talent.

Santa Fe High School Choir is led by director Caleb Heaton, while the Gonzales Community School Middle School Choir is under the direction of John Tiranno. Both choirs have received scores high enough to earn their places at the state-level event.

Scheduled for April 4th at V. Sue Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho, the state contest will bring together accomplished choral groups from across New Mexico. Securing a spot in this competition is considered a major accolade, reflecting the dedication and musical skills of the young participants.

Cristina Gonzalez, SFPS Fine Arts Coordinator, expressed her pride: “We are incredibly proud of our students for this achievement. Their commitment to their craft and their passion for music has brought them to this moment. The SFPS community will be cheering on these talented musicians as they represent their schools on the state stage."

Both choirs are set to perform alongside other top groups, vying for top honors in their respective categories during the contest.
