The season of student testing has arrived with the onset of spring. Superintendent Hilario "Larry" Chavez emphasized the importance of state-mandated assessments, stating, "It's time to roll up our sleeves and delve into state-mandated assessments, which will provide essential information on student progress and pinpoint areas of focus for teachers and students when school starts in August." Chavez also advised students to approach testing with confidence and relaxation, noting, "The best way to approach testing is to get plenty of rest, stay relaxed and be confident in what you know and can do."

The Spring Testing Schedule for 2024-25 outlines the assessment plan for different grade levels. Students in grades K-2 will engage in Istation testing in April and May. Meanwhile, students in grades 3-8 will undergo the New Mexico Measures of Student Success and Achievement (NMSSA) or the Alternate Assessment in Language and Math in April. Additionally, students in grades 5 and 8 will participate in science assessments. Specific assessment dates can be obtained by contacting individual schools.

For high school students, the assessment schedule includes High School Science assessments from April 2-4 and SAT School Day on April 10.

As the testing season commences, educators, students, and parents are encouraged to prepare diligently for the assessments ahead, ensuring a smooth and successful evaluation process.
