Early College Opportunities High School (ECO) is set to unveil its newly renovated campus located at 2301 W. Zia Road on April 18th at 4:30 p.m. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark a significant milestone for the school as it showcases its state-of-the-art facilities to the public.

"This is the culmination of a long-held vision to provide students seeking a trades-focused education with a state-of-the-art facility to support their career interests," expressed Superintendent Hilario "Larry" Chavez, emphasizing the importance of the new campus in preparing students for high-quality careers and college opportunities.

The renovation of ECO's campus was made possible through funding from voter-approved general obligation bonds in 2017 and 2021. Formerly known as "VoTec," the school was re-established as Early College Opportunities in 2017, with a focus on offering students diverse trades-focused college and career pathways.

SFPS Superintendent Chavez highlighted the significance of the renovated campus, stating, "The renovated ECO campus will offer students and educators a facility that will support taking their learning to new heights." The $21 million renovation project has doubled classroom space, allowing for increased enrollment, and includes essential additions such as a gymnasium and a new administrative building for enhanced safety and security.

Students at ECO have the opportunity to pursue various trades-focused programs such as auto body, auto tech, computer science, art, design & architecture, greenhouse, and welding. Through partnerships with postsecondary institutions like Santa Fe Community College and San Juan College, students can earn certificates and degrees by taking dual credit courses.

As the inaugural class to experience the new facilities, ECO seniors are poised to graduate with a unique distinction. Superintendent Chavez expressed his excitement for the community to witness all that the renovated campus has to offer, underscoring the school's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for its students and educators.

The ceremony on April 18th will provide attendees with a firsthand look at the transformation of ECO's campus and the opportunities it will offer to students pursuing trades-focused education.
