Santa Fe County is expanding its green waste drop-off days to help residents reduce wildfire risks in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup. This initiative follows the approval of Resolution No. 2025-031 by the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners. The resolution offers free tire recycling, solid waste, and green waste disposal opportunities throughout 2025, aiming to promote community beautification and encourage residents to maintain defensible space around their homes.

Starting April 12 through June 28, 2025, residents with a valid Solid Waste permit can drop off green waste every Saturday at the County Convenience Centers located in Stanley, Jacona, and Eldorado. These additional drop-off days are part of the county's broader strategy to mitigate fuel loads in wildland-urban interface areas as the wildfire season approaches.

In addition to these regular Saturday drop-off days, the county will facilitate free green waste disposal for permit holders on specific additional dates throughout 2025: July 11-12, August 1-2, and September 5-6.

Santa Fe County will also host the Great American Cleanup, offering a Free Solid Waste Disposal Day on April 12, 2025, for county punch permit holders at all County Convenience Centers. These centers include locations such as Eldorado, Jacona, La Cienega, Nambe, San Marcos, Stanley, and Tesuque. To support neighborhood cleanups, the county provides free garbage bags, safety vests, and gloves, which can be requested by emailing jybeam@santafecountynm.gov.

Another Free Solid Waste Disposal Day, "Toss No Mas," is scheduled for September 20, 2025, at various County Convenience Centers. Residents are encouraged to review prohibited materials according to Ordinance No. 2014-010 before disposal.

Further details on solid waste permits and convenience center hours are available on the Santa Fe County Convenience Center webpage or by contacting Les Francisco, the Solid Waste Superintendent, at 505-992-3068.
